Poonhill Trekking
Poonhill Trekking

The Gorepani trek is one of the most popular short treks in the Annapurna region. It is generally a two-day trek from Pokhara or Nayapul, although the length may vary depending on the physical endurance of the visitors. Situated at an altitude of 2760m above sea level, Gorepani is renowned for its 360-degree view of Mount Annapurna and Dhaulagiri on a sunny day. Poon Hill, which is 1km away from Ghorepani, is a perfect spot for sunrise and sunset views. The breathtaking view with a golden yellow ambiance fills visitors' hearts with warmth, despite the frigid environment.

The trek begins from Pokhara and is followed by a 45-minute jeep ride to Nayapul, where the real trail begins. The route is equipped with classical tea stalls, hotels, and restaurants, so carrying a porter and food is not necessary. As the journey continues, visitors can observe a change in topography from lush green forests to rugged mountains. After 3-4 hours of ascent, visitors reach the Ulleri village, where most trekkers spend the night. A further 6-7 hours of ascent takes them to Ghorepani, the largest village in the Annapurna trek region. This village not only offers breathtaking views of the mountains and landscapes, but also pleasing hospitality and a variety of culinary and continental dishes.

Gorepani is a small area with limited places to explore, so visitors have two options. They can either further explore the Annapurna region or descend. Trekkers with limited time choose to descend, including a visit to Ghandruk, a Gurung village, in their itinerary, completing one circular path to Nayapul, the starting point of the trail.
