Capital Pokhara

Gandaki Province is west-central Nepal, with Pokhara as its capital and 11 districts. Pokhara is the base for Phewa Lake, Sarangkot, Mardi Himal and the Annapurna trails. The road from Kathmandu follows the Prithvi Highway and takes most of a day, about 200 kilometres. Mustang and Muktinath are reached by road or by the flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. Food around the lake is fish and dal bhat, and shops sell thangka, wool and batik. Bandipur, above the highway in Tanahun, is the old hill bazaar on the way.
