Madhesh Province is the southern plains, with Janakpur as its capital and 8 districts. The journey most people make is to Janaki Temple in Janakpur, with Mithila painting as the souvenir and mithila sweets as the food. Birgunj, in Parsa, is the road border for goods and for buses toward India. Janakpur has flights from Kathmandu; the road comes down through Sindhuli or across the east-west highway.
