Sudurpashchim Province is the far west of Nepal. Godawari in Kailali is the capital, and there are 9 districts. Dhangadhi is the air and road gateway from Kathmandu. From there Shuklaphanta National Park is close, in Kanchanpur, and the hill road climbs toward Dadeldhura, Doti and Khaptad, and farther to the Api trail in Darchula. Food is Tarai style in the plains and dal bhat in the hills. This is a travel region of parks and border hills more than of souvenir bazaars.
