Capital Birendranagar

Karnali Province is north-western Nepal and the largest province by area. Birendranagar in Surkhet is the capital, and there are 10 districts. This is the province of the Karnali river, Rara and Phoksundo lakes, and the flight approaches to Jumla, Simikot and Dolpa. Most travelers reach the hills by air from Nepalgunj, or by the long road up from Surkhet. The towns are small, food is dal bhat and local grains, and the reason to come is the high country rather than shopping.
