About this Treks

The Route

You are picked up in Pokhara on the first morning and reach Ulleri the same day. The next night is Ghorepani. Before dawn you walk up to Poon Hill at 3,210 m, come back for breakfast, and continue to Tadapani. Then Ghandruk, a night back in Pokhara, and departure the next morning. You do not sleep on Poon Hill.

What You’ll See

On a clear morning the ridge shows Annapurna South, Nilgiri, and Dhaulagiri. In March and April the forest below is red with rhododendron.

Day by Day

Six days from a Pokhara pickup. The nights are Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Ghandruk, and Pokhara. You leave Pokhara the next morning. Ulleri is the hard climb. You never sleep as high as a base camp.

People & Places

The villages are Gurung and Magar. The Annapurna Conservation Area permit is the permit for this walk, and a licensed guide comes with the trip.

Why This Trip

Choose Poon Hill as a first Nepal trek, or as a short mountain add-on after Pokhara, when a sunrise ridge is enough.
